I agree with James that after one is certified to operate airline services, there is need to ensure that personnel and equipment used assures safety to the clients. Safety measures to airline operators are overseen by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to make sure that consumers of airline services are safe. The FAA must collaborate closely with manufacturers of aircrafts that are intended to carry out airline services. So, the FAA inspectors have a critical role to play in this case since they must approve any aircraft that will be used in airline services. As James says, there are four major steps that are put in place in the event of aircraft certification (Federal Aviation Administration, 2007). It is also important to know that the certification process does not begin after the aircraft has been produced, but it begins although the production process. This certification seeks the compliance of the manufactures with the need for safety in aircrafts and other related equipments in the airline sector. The standards that FAA sets have really helped to improve safety in the airline sector and therefore there is need to put more measure in place to ensure safety.
Though I agree with James about the aircraft certification process, he failed to mention very crucial issue related to this. After the aircraft is evaluated and found to be fit for airline operations, a type certificate is issued to the operator. This certificate implies that the aircraft has been manufactured according to the approved design by the FAA. In addition, James has embarked only on the safety measures relating to equipment (Federal Aviation Administration, 2007). It was important to mention that even the pilots undergo a test from the FAA to verify their competency.
